The Story of East.West.Matcha
Where our Matcha comes from?
Kagoshima is famous for its tea and boasts the nation's highest production per municipality. The warm climate and rich soil are ideal for growing tea leaves. The city has a wide variety of tea varieties, characterized by a deep green color that brings out the sweetness and flavor of deep steamed tea without the astringency of steamed tea.
We examine these abundant varieties of tea year in and year out to produce tea with the utmost attention to quality.
Why are we particular about organic Matcha?
Contract farms specialize in organically grown our tea made by tea farmers who have been in business for about 100 years.
Our conract garms tea has been passed down to the present day through their commitment to coexistence and co-prosperity with nature, including tea production that is particular about not only agricultural chemicals but also fertilizers (soil cultivation). We want to convey the taste of safe and secure organically grown tea to all our customers.
We want all our customers to enjoy our tea with peace of mind.
What you can expect from our
organic Matcha
Firstly, Matcha contains high levels of catechins (epigallocatechin), which boosts the immune system. Catechins also inhibit fat absorption.
Secondly, Theanine (amino acid) within Matcha helps you relax and have a good night's sleep.
Furthermore, Porphhenol contained in Matcha has a high antioxidant effect, and is effective in preventing arteriosclerosis and aging.
Surprisingly, it is also said to prevent bad breath and dementia.
Do you know about Matcha history?
Matcha was introduced to Japan from China in the 7th century. It was initially consumed as a medicine and not as a beverage as it is today.
Matchahou(The matcha method), in which powdered matcha is stirred into hot water, was introduced to Japan in 1191 by Eisai, known as the founder of the Rinzai Sect in Japan.
Today, matcha is used in matcha lattes, sweets, and cooking, and is popular for its taste and its health benefits.
How we make Matcha powder
The raw material for matcha is Tencha, which is made by steaming tea leaves grown in the shade of direct sunlight and drying them without rubbing. The veins and stems are removed from the leaves, which are then ground into powder using a millstone to produce matcha.
How to enjoy our Matcha?
Dissolve matcha powder in hot water and drink.
It can be combined with frothy milk to make a matcha latte, or with ice to enjoy it as iced matcha.
It can also be served with honey and berries.
